Our Wedding Day

For wedding photographers, there is always a “downtime” and I am currently in it! During this time, I realized I have never posted our very own wedding photos! So why not!:)

It’s been almost 2.5 years ago, that I married my best friend! Daniel and I met each other at Appalachian State University in the summer of 2005. He proposed to me on top of Grandfather Mountain in 2008 and we got married on July 11, 2009! We decided on The Jones House in Boone because it was perfect for us. Since we met in Boone and shared so many memories there, it only made sense…plus it was about half way for each of our families. From time to time, I just sit and look at our photos and secretly wish I could get back into my dress and just go through the day again! Hey…what girl doesn’t!!

Thanks to my good friend Ross at F5 Photography for the beautiful photos!

On top of Grandfather Mountain!

The Stine’s

The Stine’s!!! Elizabeth was one of my past brides and she has brought new wonderful clients in my life. The Stine family is one of them!! They are super duper sweet and their precious little girl is adorable! We had a great time rolling around in the leaves at Lake Crabtree! I’m so happy they had these to send out for their 2011 Christmas cards to their family and friends!

The Katelyn James Workshop Experience

I can’t believe  how much of a slacker I have become! This is embarrassingly late but as they say…better late than never!

For about a year or so now, I have been stalking her blog. I would drool over her photos and pull inspiration from her. Up until this past November, I have yet to attend a workshop. I started my search for a workshop. I had one confirmed in my mind and was about to commit and then it happened! The Katelyn James Workshop Experience registration hit the blog and I clicked confirm before I knew what I was doing. I was so excited to attend my first workshop AND for it to be hosted by none other than Katelyn James!! Win Win!

I left super early that morning and started my way to Richmond, VA with coffee in hand! I wasn’t nervous until I got into Richmond and it hit me! Plus the fact that I got lost! It never fails. GPS’ and IPhone’s are no match for Jamie! Once I arrived at the Virginia Center for Architecture and met Katelyn plus the other photographers, that nervousness and intimidation flew out the window and excitement set in. Katelyn was so welcoming and I was ready to learn!

At that point, I had been struggling with myself and got into a funk. I won’t lie, I still get in a little funk every now and then but after her workshop, I had more confidence and ideas to make myself a better person, photographer and business woman! Katelyn offered so many tips and tricks and ways to make “things” better. The most important lesson was on creating “The Experience”. In this day and age when technology is ever growing and everyone has a camera, wedding photographers are everywhere. More importantly, a wedding photographer isn’t just there to take pretty pictures on your special day. Duh, we do that already but there is more to it than a pretty picture. From start to finish, a bride should remember the whole planning experience and it makes a difference when you connect with your photographer and create lasting relationships. I cannot thank you enough Katelyn for your kindness, willing to teach, share your knowledge and for being so darn sweet! I would definitely recommend anyone to attend her next workshop! It is worth it on every level I could think of!
