The catch is…you have to eat A DOZEN Krispy Kreme donuts AND run 5 miles! The most I could ever eat at once was three! {I probably shouldn’t admit that} Sure…why not! Training began and was going pretty well! If you are thinking of running…please spare yourself and get properly fitted for a good pair of tennis shoes. 3 pairs later….I learned my lesson and my feet thanked me! I visited Fleet Feet in Raleigh and they were awesome! The big day came and went. I finished the challenge AND managed to not get sick! I still have a hard time looking at a donut. Crossing that finish line was one of the best feelings! I’m just a back woods country girl but running through the tunnel of bystanders…I felt like celebrity! That is the natural high a lot of people talk about! It was official, I was addicted!

Then, I wanted to tackle a Half Marathon. Why not right? Preparing for this race did not go exactly how I had planned. But ready or not, race day came. I still to this day do not know how I made it…but I DID!

Just the other week, Daniel and I ran in a local 5K here in Erwin! I plan to keep running and running and running! And to think, if I would have listened to my husband, I could have been a pro at running by  now. {Honey, you have this in writing now. Yes, you were RIGHT!}

Moral of this story… exercising DOES relieve stress and I feel like a new woman! I have a long way to go and lots of areas to improve upon. Where will I run next?

March 10 – Run for the Oaks 5K – 25:11 | 6th in age group

April 1 – Raleigh Rocks Half Marathon – 2:00:12

April 22 – RailTrail CareNet 5K – 25:01 | 1st in age group
